Basic Requirements
- โ Age: 17+ (16 with parental consent in some states)
- โ Weight: At least 110 lbs (50 kg)
- โ Good general health
- โ Hemoglobin: โฅ12.5 g/dL (female) or โฅ13.0 g/dL (male)
- โ Normal blood pressure and pulse

Types of Blood Donation
Whole Blood Donation
The most common type. About 1 pint is collected and separated into red cells, plasma, and platelets.
Platelet Donation (Apheresis)
Platelets are collected while returning other blood components. Critical for cancer patients and surgeries.
Plasma Donation
Plasma is collected via apheresis. Used for burn victims, trauma patients, and making medications.
Power Red (Double Red Cell)
Two units of red cells collected while returning plasma and platelets. Requires higher hemoglobin.
