What is the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)?

The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is the U.S. Army's modernized physical fitness assessment designed to better prepare soldiers for the physical demands of combat. Replacing the traditional Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), the ACFT evaluates functional fitness through six events that mirror real-world military tasks and combat scenarios.

Six Combat Events

The ACFT consists of six events: Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Hand-Release Push-ups, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Leg Tuck, and Two-Mile Run.

Event Focus:

  • Strength & Power
  • Muscular Endurance
  • Aerobic Capacity

Advanced Scoring

Each event scored 0-100 points based on age and gender. Minimum 60 points per event required to pass, with maximum 600 total points possible.

Scoring Features:

  • Age/Gender adjusted
  • 360 promotion points max
  • Career impact assessment

AFT Transition (2025)

The Army Fitness Test (AFT) will replace the ACFT in June 2025, featuring simplified events and updated standards.

Transition Features:

  • Streamlined events
  • Updated standards
  • Transition planning tools

Understanding the mathematical foundation of ACFT scoring helps soldiers optimize their training and career planning. Our calculator uses official Army standards combined with advanced analytics for comprehensive performance assessment.

๐Ÿ“Š Core ACFT Calculations

Total ACFT Score

Total Score = MDL + SPT + HRP + SDC + LTK + 2MR

Sum of all six event scores (maximum 600 points)

Promotion Points from ACFT

Promotion Points = (Total Score รท 600) ร— 360

ACFT contribution to promotion packet (maximum 360 points)

Performance Analysis Indices

Strength Index = (MDL Score + SPT Score) รท 2
Endurance Index = (HRP Score + 2MR Score) รท 2
Power Index = SPT Score
Core Stability Index = LTK Score

Advanced performance metrics for targeted training

Age and Gender Standards

Event Score = f(Raw Performance, Age, Gender)
Where f() = Official Army scoring tables

Each event uses specific age and gender-adjusted scoring tables
