Understanding the T:E2 Ratio
The testosterone to estradiol ratio reflects the balance between these two critical hormones. In men, testosterone is partially converted to estradiol by the aromatase enzyme (primarily in adipose tissue). While men need some estrogen for bone health, cardiovascular function, and libido, excess estrogen relative to testosterone can cause significant symptoms and health concerns.
Severely Low Ratio
Ratio: <8
Marked estrogen dominance - urgent evaluation needed
Very Low Ratio
Ratio: 8-10
Significant estrogen relative to testosterone
Low Ratio
Ratio: 10-14
Elevated estrogen or low testosterone
Low-Normal
Ratio: 14-18
Within range but on lower end
Why Both T and E2 Matter in Men
Testosterone Functions
- โข Muscle mass and strength
