Understanding DPI vs PPI
PPI (Pixels Per Inch)
Refers to the pixel density of a digital image or screen. A 3000×2000 image at 300 PPI produces a 10×6.67 inch print.
DPI (Dots Per Inch)
Refers to the physical dots a printer can produce per inch. Higher DPI printers can produce more detail.
For Digital Images
The terms are often used interchangeably. What matters is having enough pixels for your desired print size.
Resolution vs Quality
Simply changing the DPI metadata doesn't change image quality. It just changes the intended print size.
